If you know anything about me, you know that my love of music is matched only by my love for movies. And I’m talking about real films, the ones that make you feel something, whether it’s happiness, laughter, sorrow, tension, sympathy, or just something that blows your mind. So I try to go to the movies as often as I can to see movies that interest me, sometimes to see an actor’s performance, other times to see some awesome visual effects, and sometimes just to temporarily escape from the real world and get drawn into the movie’s world.
Now a few years ago, while I was browsing around on YouTube, I came across a channel owned by a very talented editor named Matt Shapiro. Among the trailer re-cuts and miscellaneous projects, there is an annual series called “The Cinescape”. Started in 2006, Shapiro cuts together the year’s best films into a fast-paced compilation, and always sets it to great music.
So like a kid at Christmas, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Matt had uploaded a new Cinescape video for 2011. While it was significantly different from his other yearly videos, this one really is something special. And to top it off, he used one of my favorite tracks of this year, the Madeon remix of Deadmau5′s “Raise Your Weapon”.
So please take a moment to enjoy this video as much as I did, and definitely go see the rest of Matt Shapiro’s Cinescape videos from previous years.
