Wow. That kind of sums up the incredible level that electronic music and show producer Deadmau5 has reached, and how he continues to dazzle and amaze us. This past Monday, the Mau5 teamed up with Nokia and put on a free show at Millbank Tower in London.
[pullquote_right]Millbank was plunged into darkness with the iconic tower acting as the canvas for a never-before-seen spectacular. Each of the 120 metre high building’s 800 windows were covered with vinyl as 16 powerful projectors, stationed 300 metres away on the other side of the river, beamed 3D images onto the structure. Huge butterflies flew across the London skyline and the tower was twisted, pulsated and even fell down. Billed as the “future of live events” the spectacular show was accompanied by music from super producer deadmau5, who created exclusive remixes for the performance — adding the 4th dimension.[/pullquote_right]
Why is that so special, you ask? Because the entire building was outfitted with16 high-powered projectors to create a mind-blowing visual spectacle of colors, shapes, images and video, constantly moving and pulsating to Deadmau5′ beats.
Imagine if this was the norm, where you could go see Kaskade or Swedish House Mafia, or any other huge house producer, and you would be treated to a literal skyscraper of visuals to complement the music. I have no idea how much this cost to put on, but it truly is impressive and exciting to see something like this possible and received so well. Hopefully the Mau5 will put on a similar show like this in the States in the near future, and I will most definitely be there.
Of course, since the event was hosted by Nokia, they showed off their new Lumia 800 smartphone, which can do pretty much the same stuff that every other smartphone does. Except that it’s a Windows phone. Sorry Nokia, I’m sticking to my iPhone 4S, thank you very much.
